Our Mission


Shelby County's Purchasing Office is responsible for the procurement of goods and services under the administration of the County Mayor, the legislative body, the County Board of Commissioners, and other elected officials. Shelby County's Purchasing is an hybrid model, this Office is supported by the requesting Departments, to meet their purchasing needs.

It is the intent of the Purchasing Department to procure quality products and services at the lowest possible cost, while applying our LOSB and MWBE Ordinances. Every purchase is made with the County's best interest in mind, while providing all suppliers with a fair and equal opportunity to conduct business with the Shelby County government.

Setting a Standard of Excellence


The Purchasing Department is headed by an Administrator of Purchasing who is responsible for performing the purchasing duties of the County in a cost-effective manner, in accordance with SCG LOSB and MWBE Orinances and generally recognized principles of governmental purchasing.
It is our intention to introduce you to our procurement process, assist you when questions, and help you sell us your products and services. 
The Shelby County Purchasing Department is a member of and subscriber to the principles and standards of purchasing practices advocated by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) and the Institute for Supply Management (ISM). For this reason, we are committed to the development and increased participation of locally-owned small businesses in providing needed goods and services to the Shelby County government.
