About the Board of Supervisors

Members


The district board is a legally constituted unit of the State of Tennessee government with a six-member board of supervisors. Currently comprising the board are:
  • John Charles Wilson, Chairman
  • Terry Longmire, Vice Chairman
  • Gary Jamerson, Secretary / Treasurer
  • David Sigler, Member at Large
  • Keith Wilder, Member at Large
  • Kenneth Ray Sneed, Associate Board Member

Responsibilities


The Soil Conservation Services District is overseen by a Board of Supervisors that directs the work of the district. Board meetings are open to the public with the dates posted on the Shelby County Calendar. The board establishes and implements programs to protect and conserve:
  • Energy and other renewable resources on local, non-federal lands
  • Prime and unique farmland
  • Range land
  • Soil
  • Water
  • Wildlife
  • Woodlands
