IMPORTANT NOTICE

Volunteers with immuno-suppressed systems, such as individuals receiving chemotherapy, recipients of organ or tissue transplants, individuals who are HIV/AIDS positive or who have skin conditions such as eczema or atopic dermatitis, are pregnant (at the time of the emergency), spleenectomy, seborrhea, severe (anaphylactic) latex allergy, over 65 year old, or have any other physical condition(s) that may contraindicate immunization, household/close contact to persons who have contraindications to the vaccine may not be assigned to work in a clinical setting but may be used as a volunteer where their health would not be compromised. There are a number of volunteer tasks that need to be done away from the clinical setting. All other volunteers must be appropriately vaccinated prior to being allowed to work in a clinical setting. All volunteers and their families will be given the opportunity to be immunized against smallpox either before the mass clinics begin or on the first day of the mass vaccination clinics, unless they have contraindications to the vaccine.

All volunteers must complete two (2) hours of training prior to working in an emergency immunization project. Some volunteers may need additional training based on their job assignments. Notice of training schedules will be mailed to volunteers as sessions are scheduled.

DIRECTIONS

On the next screens, you will be redirected to the Tennessee Volunteer Mobilizer registration page. We ask you to fill out information about yourself including your occupation, profession, contact and emergency contact information, list professional certifications and expiration dates, specialized skills, and what jobs you can do for your community.

The form takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Please fill out each block carefully and completely. After you submit your application you will receive an email notification of your status membership in the Medical Reserve Corps.

Note: The Federal Government has mandated all medical volunteer professionals pre-register their information in the Emergency System for Advanced Registration for Volunteer Health Care Professionals (ESAR-VHP) which is a component of Volunteer Mobilizer. The registry is a critical resource in providing for surge personnel in the event of a public health emergency or disaster. Advanced registration of health care volunteers will expedite the ability to quickly identify and better utilize health care professionals. The result will be a more efficient and organized means of coordinating volunteers during an emergency when response time is critical. Only designated personnel will have access to your confidential information and will only be used to notify you of any activities related to the Medical Reserve Corps program.  Types of notifications will include training opportunities, drills/exercises, updated program information, newsletters, and request for assistance at the time of a public health emergency. Your information will not be shared with any entity which is not a direct partner to an emergency response in Tennessee.
