Voluntary Dental Benefits - Brenda Greene

Ms. Greene explained that eight companies submitted bids for the dental PPO option.   Of the eight companies, the following information was obtained:

  • Unimerica provided the most financially competitive proposal with a quote 9% lower than CompBenefits
  • Delta Dental's quote was the next most financially competitive proposal with a quote 8% lower than CompBenefits
  • CompBenefits did not offer any rate relief for the PPO option, but did guarantee its current 2007 rates for three years (through 2010)
  • All other companies provided two year rate guarantees
  • CIGNA offered the least competitive proposal with a 2% increase over the current PPO rates

Motion was made by Elly Riss and modified by Steve Stamsom to accept Unamerica as the plan administrator contingent upon the Benefits Office requesting from Unamerica a 5% premium decrease and a three-year rate guarantee.

Seconded by Steve Stamson.  Motion carried.

Motion to adjourn by Eleanor Riss, and seconded by Lee Wessels.  Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
