Total Health Wellness
Shelby County Government is dedicated to the health and well-being of its employees. The Total Health Wellness program was established in 2013 based on a high population of chronic conditions and poor health according to the County’s insurance provider data. The program was designed to better serve our workforce and encourage a healthier community. Total Health Wellness is a program dedicated to empowering, encouraging, and inspiring healthier life decisions among Shelby County Government Employees. Our goal is to help employees make informed choices concerning their health by providing educational tools and strategies. We strive to promote all aspects of health including physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Total Health Wellness is committed to providing a healthy work environment and promoting a healthier way of life.
Through the Total Health Wellness program we offer a wide range of health and wellness programs free for employees. Such programs include monthly health education seminars, tobacco cessation programs, on-site fitness centers, bike share programs, health fairs, on-site wellness screenings, on-site blood pressure, and glucose checks, on-site group fitness classes, discounted gym memberships, on-site mobile mammography checks, opioid usage programs, mental health education, webinars, chronic disease management programs, injury and prevention classes, diabetes prevention and management, and colon cancer awareness programs. Shelby County Government has been recognized as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace under The Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness. Several other honors have been awarded including the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Gold, Memphis Business Group on Health’s CEO Culture of Health, and the Cigna Well-Being award in 2016 and 2018. The County has constantly improved the employees’ health and well-being and will continue to make significant strides in this area.
In order to receive the wellness premium for County Benefits, all employees who participate in Shelby County Government’s medical coverage MUST COMPLETE BOTH THE BIOMETRIC WELLNESS SCREENING AND THE ONLINE HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT:
1. Schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider to complete the wellness screening form and send it to Cigna. Download the screening form. AND
2. Complete the online health risk assessment online.

This is only for employees who participate in the County’s health coverage. In order to be eligible for the wellness premium for Shelby County Government’s health coverage plans, you must complete BOTH, the wellness screening AND online health risk assessment. Spouses and dependents are not required to complete the wellness screening or online health risk assessment but are highly encouraged.
The deadline is September 30th, 2023
If you do not complete one of the requirements, you will receive the non-wellness premium rate beginning on January 1, 2024.
