Commissioner Eddie S. Jones, Jr.
Eddie S. Jones, Jr. was elected to his second term as Shelby County Commissioner for District 11 on August 2, 2018. District 11 is comprised of sections of Fox Meadows, Hickory Hill, Oakhaven, Parkway Village, and Whitehaven.
Commissioner Jones is a lifelong resident of Shelby County and a proud graduate of Hamilton High School. He attended Shelby State Community College, majoring in Criminal Justice and Tusculum College, where he studied Business.
Commissioner Jones works as a City of Memphis Code Enforcement Supervisor and is a former police officer with the Memphis Police Department where he served on the Tact Unit. Commissioner Jones has been a dedicated employee of the City of Memphis for over 20 years. He is a graduate of the 2013 City of Memphis Emerging Leaders Institute Certification. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, Teamsters National Black Caucus (TNBC), Shelby County Democratic Executive Committee, District 85 House Chair, and was a 2008 Democratic Pledge Delegate – 9th Congressional District, President Obama.
Commissioner Eddie Jones says his true passion is advocating for our children and community service. For over 35 years, he has made himself available to the community, by serving on boards and volunteering in the very neighborhoods where he grew up and still loves today. He is an active volunteer serving as Executive Advisory Council Member of SCS Teacher Effective Initiative, President of Memphis Council PTA, Juvenile Court Oversight Ad Hoc Committee Member, Westwood Save our Schools Committee 2013, Vice President Whitehaven Leadership Council Neighborhood Association, McCorkle Road Neighborhood Association, School Adopters Liaison, Airways Middle School, Treasurer, Whitehaven Track Club/ Whitehaven High School, Shelby County School Parent Advisory Committee, Redbirds RBI Summer Youth Baseball Coach, Event Coordinator for Westwood Youth Development, Inc. and Mt. Vernon Outreach Ministries.
He is married to Martel and is the father of seven, enjoying and counting the grandkids as they come. He and his family attend Mt. Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood, where he humbly serves as a Deacon.
