Caring for our Veterans

Posted on June 3, 2022 at 11:23 AM by Jessica Harris

Veteran Services

The Veterans Administration (VA) has established a special monthly pension for Veterans, or their spouse, in need of care as they age. This program is called Aid and Attendance and it provides care for those requiring assistance with daily activities of life like bathing, dressing, eating, maintaining mobility and addressing their bathroom needs. With not every Veteran requiring the same needs as they age, Aid and Attendance can be requested if the Veteran is in a nursing home, an assisted living facility, or if they are home bound. This benefit is the VA’s way of providing long term care for Veterans and their spouses. The age requirement is 65 unless the Veteran or spouse is permanently and totally disabled without misconduct by the applicant. This benefit has assisted many individuals that might not have been assisted to this extent without the Veteran’s service to our country.

If you want to learn more about this program or connect with your Veterans Services Officer, please call 901-222-4237
