Community Services Agency
We all know that growing older is a part of life and we each wish to age gracefully. However, the stressors of everyday life can shift the idea of aging gracefully into a somewhat unattainable goal. At Shelby County Community Services Agency, we love our senior community and work diligently to assist with the goal of aging gracefully.
Every year, we service over 5000 seniors, ages 60 and over, in our various programs. We are especially proud to be a recipient of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) donation of $5000 for special utility assistance for our seniors. The financial assistance and supportive services we provide to these very important members of our community, can help to alleviate daily stress and enable them to attain the goal of aging gracefully.
To apply for utility assistance, send an email to heather.watson@shelbycountytn.gov. The requirements for seniors to receive IBEW funds are below.
- AGE 65 AND OVER
- APPLIED TO UTILITY SERVICES ONLY
- RESIDENT OF SHELBY COUNTY, TN.
- MUST HAVE PAST DUE UTILITY BILL
- MUST NOT HAVE ACCESSED ANY OTHER UTILITY SERVICES PROGRAM THROUGH CSA DURING THE CURRENT PROGRAM YEAR
- MAXIMUM ALLOTMENT IS $250 PER CUSTOMER, PER PROGRAM YEAR
If you are a senior in need of utility assistance, please call 901-222-4212.

Community Services Agency
New User-Friendly Website for CSA
We are excited to announce the launch of the Community Services Agency's (CSA) newly designed website. CSA is an integral part of the Division of Community Services providing much needed assistance so families can break free from the cycle of poverty. Utility, rent/mortgage, prescription medicine assistance, and family support through our self-sufficiency program are available.
With feedback from our partners and clients we were able to make our new website faster, easier to navigate, and more user-friendly. Residents now have an easier way to access information, applications, and alternate means of communication. Please visit CSA's new website at www.shelbycountycsa.org. We hope that you like the changes.
