Shelby County Health Department Service Changes for Friday, August 28, 2020

Food Service, Environmental Sanitation and Pollution Permits Impacted

SHELBY COUNTY, TN – In order to better serve the public, the Shelby County Health Department is in the process of relocating all of its environmental health programs to one location: 1826 Sycamore View Road. The co-location of environmental health programs, including Vector Control, Environmental Health and Food Safety, Air and Water Quality, Asbestos, and Lead Prevention, will improve access to services for the public and improve collaboration on environmental health issues.

While we are very excited to announce this transition, the Health Department will have to make some service adjustments this week. Those changes include:

• Environmental Health and Food Safety permits, including restaurant, food truck, hotel, swimming pool, and tattoo permits will be unavailable on Friday, August 28, 2020.

• Air and Water Quality permits will be unavailable on Friday, August 28, 2020.

The Health Department asks permit holders to please plan ahead and conduct their permit office business on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Beginning Monday, August 31, 2020, Environmental Health and Food Safety and Air and Water Quality permits will be available only at 1826 Sycamore View Road and will no longer be available at the 814 Jefferson location.

“Please bear with us as we make this transition. While there will be some inconveniences over the next weeks as we move, ultimately, we will be able to better serve Shelby County through the new Sycamore View location,” said Health Department Director Alisa Haushalter.
