SHELBY COUNTY VETERANS SERVICES OFFICE ASKS RESIDENTS TO HELP FIND LOCAL VIETNAM WAR VETERANS AND FAMILY MEMBERS OF FALLEN SOLDIERS AHEAD OF 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE END OF THE VIETNAM WAR

Living veterans and their loved ones will be honored during the rededication ceremony of the Shelby County Vietnam War Memorial on March 29, 2023.

Shelby County, TN – The Shelby County Veterans Services Office is #FindingTheFallen, a community-wide effort to identify living Vietnam War veterans and family members of fallen soldiers. The veterans and their family members will be recognized during the Rededication of the Shelby County Vietnam War Memorial. The rededication ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Shelby County Vietnam War Memorial, located at 4035 Thomas Street. Living veterans, family members of the fallen, and community members can RSVP at www.bit.ly/findingthefallen

Veterans Services Officer Mike Davis enlisted the help of Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris to appeal to residents whose families have a connection to the Vietnam War. Over 270 Vietnam War veterans are recognized on the Memphis memorial, which was recently resurfaced and updated.

Mayor Lee Harris and Veterans Services Officer Mike Davis encourage residents to help spread the word to living Vietnam War veterans in a 30-second #FindingTheFallen PSA. Names of fallen soldiers are listed. The full video may be found at https://youtu.be/b2cj1Qw-xWM.

Living Vietnam War veterans, family members of the fallen, and members of the community are encouraged to attend the March 29th Rededication Ceremony. Visit www.bit.ly/findingthefallen to RSVP. Contact the Shelby County Veterans Services Office at (901) 222-4237 with any questions.
