We offer individual counseling, advocacy, court accompaniment, rape crisis services (we do the 24/7 sexual assault exams, commonly known as ‘rape kits’), assistance with filling an Order of Protection, victim compensation, and emergency financial services if needed.

No, all services are free and confidential.
Our employees can assist with preparing an application for victims’ compensation, which is a reimbursement type fund that the State of Tennessee runs out of Nashville. For the most part, that fund only reimburses you for actual expenses that are directly related to the crime, like medical bills.
We serve all ages of victims, from 0 and up. We require parents or legal guardians to accompany minor children, except victims age 13 and older can consent on their own to forensic medical or counseling services.
Yes, we are required to keep all victim information confidential according to Federal law. There are some limited exceptions, like when you discuss causing harm to yourself or others, or abuse towards children or vulnerable people.
We will not call anyone without their permission. You can also give me a safe contact number where we can leave a message for you. Additionally, any time we call out, the caller ID will only say Shelby County Government with a generic number so you won’t be able to trace the call either.
We might be able to help pay a part, all, or nothing, depending on the circumstances. We often use our partnering agencies, like CSA or MIFA, as resources for payment as well. We can help you navigate that process if you call 901-222-3950.
