Commissioner Mills was elected to serve the citizens of District 1 on August 2, 2018, and was re-elected to a second term in August 2022. District 1 includes Shelby Forrest, Millington, Arlington, Rosemark, and the Kerrville area.

Amber was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Clay and Wanda Marlow, and has one sister, Tawny Walker.

After attending high school in El Dorado, Arkansas, and Seaford, Delaware, she graduated from Austin High School in Decatur, Alabama. She was awarded a piano scholarship to Wallace State College where she played in the jazz band. Amber earned her A.A. degree in Music Education there and went on to earn her B.S. in Business Management at Auburn University.

Commissioner Mills spent 17 years as a Flight Attendant for Delta Airlines, traveling the world and learning about different cultures. During her time with Delta, she was recognized for outstanding leadership and service. She has also worked with an anti-terrorism consulting firm in the Washington, D.C. area as their National Accounts Manager. Amber was proud to work with veterans from all branches of our armed forces. For the past several years, she has served as the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Shelby County.

Amber and her husband, Lee, are the proud parents of two boys, Grayson and Tanner, both of whom attend Arlington Community Schools. The Mills family worships at Bellevue Baptist Church.

Commissioner Mills is a huge Elvis Presley fan and is thrilled to live in the same county as the King of Rock and Roll! Her other interests include traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
