Commissioner Mick Wright was elected to the Shelby County Board of Commissioners in 2018 and re-elected to a second term in 2022. He represents District 3, encompassing areas of Bartlett and Lakeland.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Mick has lived in Shelby County since 2000. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Harding University and a master’s degree in public administration from Strayer University.

Commissioner Wright has worked for Youth Villages since 2003. He currently serves as an analyst at the organization’s Bartlett headquarters.

Mick, a member of Leadership Bartlett’s Class of 2009, has spent the last decade volunteering with local organizations including the Bartlett Chamber Foundation, and the Bartlett Education Foundation. Additionally, he has been involved with projects such as the Bartlett Education Advisory Committee, the Bartlett Sesquicentennial Committee, and the Bartlett First Responders Monument Committee. In 2011, Commissioner Wright formed the group Better Bartlett Schools to lead the grassroots efforts culminating in the referendum that created the Bartlett City Schools system.

Mick and his wife, Alison, have lived in Bartlett since 2008. They are members of the Memphis Runners Track Club and the Bartlett Runners Club. They ran their first marathon together as St. Jude Heroes in December 2017.
